ABOUT PREVIEW PLAY
We are thrilled to welcome Members, Guests, and Friends for preview play at The Keep in 2024 and early 2025. During this Preview Play period, we want to share with you the conditions you should expect and will likely experience until we officially open the course in the Summer of 2025.
Facilities to support play on the course will initially be temporary structures with the permanent structures planned. Please visit our website www.themclemore.com/golf/the-keep-at-mclemore to learn more about The Keep and our planned facilities.
The following is additional information regarding different aspects you will experience during our Preview Period.
FAIRWAYS & GREEN SURROUNDS (Stadium Zoysia): Most areas will be well rooted with minimum, if any, inconvenience of play. Fairways on holes 1, 2, 15, 16, and 18 may be a little behind some of the other fairways as they were sodded last. Sod lines or seams may remain visible. There may be areas that are depressed as we continue to implement an aggressive top dressing program to fill low areas and seams with sand.
GREENS (AU Victory Bentgrass): Most every green is expected to be in excellent condition. The 2nd hole may be the only exception as it was seeded last. While greens are expected to be in excellent condition, the putting surfaces will likely be firmer and a bit slower than when turf is matured.
NATIVE AREAS (Fine Fescue and Broom Sedge): Native areas outside of irrigation will be more mature in some areas than in others. There will likely be several areas of exposed soil. Ideally the native areas will consist primarily of cool season grasses that thrive in our mountain conditions but are also drought tolerant and well suited for our environment. An extensive seeding program is planned for the Fall of 2024 and early Spring of 2025. It is expected that the native areas will take a few seasons to fully mature.
CHECK-IN: During Preview Play, the experience of playing The Keep will begin with check-in and warm-up at The Highlands course driving range inside the gates of McLemore Resort. Please plan on arriving early as golfers will be shuttled to the first tee of The Keep. That is a fifteen minute journey.
PLAY: The Keep is a walking-only golf course. Morning tee times will require a caddie which is assigned at the time of booking (upon availability). Our caddie program is growing, and it is our desire to provide a caddie for every request. When caddies are not available, golfers may have the option of using a provided golf trolley or carrying their own bag. It’s likely that carts will be added in the future once the course is more established.
FOOD & BEVERAGE: Sandwiches, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages are complimentary and will be available at The Keep at the location of the future clubhouse and halfway house. A beverage cart will also roam the course.
RESTROOMS: Restroom facilities will also be available throughout the golf course.
SHELTER: Grounded shelter will be provided to take refuge from the elements and a state-of-the-art lightning detection system will be active.
MERCHANDISE: The Keep merchandise and other golf supplies and equipment will be available at The Keep main clubhouse site.
REFUNDS: No refunds will be issued based on course conditions.
It is the intention of the golf operations staff and agronomy department to make the preview play period as enjoyable as possible for our Members, Guests & Friends. We believe that the golf experience you receive at The Keep can be one of the best golf days of your life. The drama of the site, combined with turf quality, strategy of the course, and personalized services, will make your day at The Keep unforgettable.
